I did paint it with a semi gloss and that seems to make it easier to clean up. When I've had red splatters (enchilada sauce splattered once!) I sprayed some clorox cleaner and it came right up! :-) The paint I used was Benjamin Moore Simply White in semi gloss! I'm wondering though, do you end up having to scrub the beadboard backsplash (above the range especially) often? We're about to dive in to a kitchen remodel and while I prefer the look of beadboard above any of the expensive lovely tiles, I'm worried about there being constant splatters of red sauce and grease and other such yuckiness above my range and sink. Do you mind sharing what paint you used on the beadboard? Thank you! She just called it "using the pot." They didn't use the outhouse at night. And as she grew older, she just "used the pot." She sold her Tennessee farmhouse in the late 80's & moved in with one of her children. I see these used for all sorts of things and it makes me laugh! Our countertops have been in for just over a year now, Ikea wood using the same dark tung oil finish that you recommended. We will re-oil them when the weather gets warm enough to open the windows but they have held up perfectly for this past year. At first we were careful to wipe up any spills immediately, so afraid we would ruin the wood. But we soon realized that the tung oil did a fabulous job of protecting the wood. We are so happy with our countertops and the products you recommended! Thank you for blogging about this and being so gracious in your replies to requests for information. :>)Kathleen Gracehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11551093555973581448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5323174088524237837.post-38651046433106326432015-03-28T10:26:00.940-05:002015-03-28T10:26:00.940-05:00I love your counter tops. It fit in our new (old fixer upper) kitchen, so when we moved last year we brought it with us. I'm wanting new counter tops this summer, but I'm afraid we have spent too much already fixing up the house that I might have to go with Formica, but butcher block would be my number one choice if I had the money. It keeps it's beauty for years :) Yours is gorgeous and twenty years from now you are going to feel the same way about it :)Conniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08187302890702147585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5323174088524237837.post-39235891906089078062015-03-28T09:51:51.097-05:002015-03-28T09:51:51.097-05:00HI there, Dori; The pots with the Gerber Daisies ...HI there, Dori; The pots with the Gerber Daisies on your countertops really add the farmhouse touch to your kitchen!
