Loyal Heights Blog Tour {And A Giveaway!}

Hello Friends!

A couple years ago Jera of Quilting In The Rain contacted me about sewing with her latest fabric line to showcase it in a blog post.  I eagerly accepted.  And now, a couple years later I've had the privilege of helping to showcase two of her other fabric collections by sewing for her booth at Quilt Market.  Her latest collection, Loyal Heights, was debuted at Quilt Market in the Fall and I was so happy to have a little part in sewing for her booth.  I'm super excited to be in her blog tour for that project - as well as a couple other things I made!

I introduce you to Loyal Heights Fabric designed by Jera Brandvig and manufactured by Lecien Fabrics.

I love it when a fabric collection speaks to me and there was something about the Loyal Heights fabric that made me think of traveling... it could be the sweet Victorian houses that are weaved into the fabric.  But it seemed fitting to make a travel bag!  I chose the Weekender Bag Pattern by Amy Butler.   I also felt like a Weekender Bag would be a great addition to Jera's Quilt Market Booth.

The above picture is Jera in her Fall Quilt Market Booth ... there is my Weekender Bag in the lower left hand corner!   You can't believe how happy that made me!

This pattern does not call for a pieced and quilted bag but that is what I wanted so after a little thinking and looking at other Weekender bags I came up with a way to use all 36 prints from the Loyal Heights collection.  And I couldn't love it more!

I loved the low volume fabrics in this collection and I wanted to show them off together and using them for the main panel was a great way to do it.  Then I was able to use all the other fabrics in the large pockets on the front and the back.   (Don't you just LOVE those polka dots with the gold hearts?)

I love all the sweet houses that are in the fabric (one of them is Jera's house!) and they were perfect for fussy cutting!   The bag not only has pockets on the front but it also has great pockets on both side panels.

I liked having some of the pieced squares set on point and some set straight.  I think it gave it a really fun contrast.

The pictures don't show how large this bag is; but it is basically what I would call a small suitcase size.  It has a double zip closure with all kinds of room inside.  The pattern doesn't call for pockets on the inside but I added a zip pocket and a divided slip pocket.

I'm traveling to Vermont in June for a Sewing Retreat and I can't wait for this bag to travel with me!!!

Do you love buntings?  They are one of my favorite quick and easy projects to make.  I also think they are such a fun surprise to gift to someone.  And this bunting with all 36 prints from Loyal Heights was very fun!   Someone pointed out to me recently that buntings are hard to photograph.  And yes... they are!

I couldn't resist making a Sew Together Bag, pattern by Sew Demented.  I've made this little bag numerous times for gifts as I love mine so much!  I could just picture Loyal Heights fabric in this useful little bag.

If you haven't made the Sew Together Bag I totally recommend it!  It is a fairly small bag that opens to a lot of space, with three zippered pockets inside.  It is perfect for on the go projects.  I use mine for my hand sewing projects and it's always ready, whether I'm sitting in the recliner or on a road trip.  I have a friend that uses hers as a cosmetic bag!

My favorite part was using one of the selvedges from Jera's fabric line as a label on the inside of the bag!

I really enjoyed sewing with this beautiful fabric collection.  There are so many beautiful prints, it was impossible to choose my favorite!

I hope you will follow along with all the other amazing Artist's on this tour.  All of these ladies are so incredibly talented that I have to pinch myself to believe it when I see my name listed in the lineup!

A huge thank you to Jera for trusting me with her gorgeous fabric collections.  It always makes me so happy to be a part of it.

And now, finally!!!  The GIVEAWAY!

I'd love to gift one lucky winner a bunting that I made using some of my favorite prints from Loyal Heights fabric.  Leave a comment here telling me where you think you would hang it!  Buntings are so much fun!  Get a double entry by following me on Instagram @redfeedsack and leaving a comment on my giveaway post there too!
