Spring Throw Pillows! {Goose Creek Gardens Fabric Tour}

Hello Friends!  It is Spring in Tennessee!  The farm is greening up, the Red Bud trees are in bloom and everything just feels so fresh and clean! 

I was so happy to be asked by Poppie Cotton to sew with their latest collection Called Goose Creek Gardens.  It is just the most cheerful and happy fabric and it was calling Spring at me when I received it in the mail.  All I could think of was new throw pillows for my couch!  

I drew up my own simple pattern and made the pillows 20 inches square because I like larger throw pillows.  I chose to use DMC Perle Cotton #8 thread to do some big stitch hand quilting in both white and black thread and I'm really enjoying the contrast.  

I used a simple patchwork to create the border of the pillows and I loved how it came out.  

I love throw pillows that have a zipper and I installed this one a little differently this time.  I used fabric scraps to create a binding edge.  It gave some fun color to the back of the pillow and I really love how it turned out!  I think I'll be using this technique for installing zippers in my pillow covers from here on! 

This fabric line has so many sweet fabrics; I never could choose my favorite.  I love the geese print fabric and I enjoyed fussy cutting them to square off the center portion of the pillow.  They really stand out.  

I love how cheerful and happy the colors are and I'm excited to use up my scraps on another little project!  

A couple weeks ago I had a Spring Tea Party at my house and my pillows just fit right in with all my spring decorations!  (That is the Lucky Log Cabin Quilt on the back of my couch that I made a couple months ago and I love it!!!  It is the perfect napping size quilt!)
